The title I’ve chosen for this developing series of works comes from the poem "Paysage" by Federico García Lorca, the great Spanish poet who was assassinated by fascists in 1936.
This new body of work continues my visual dialogue with nature, especially in this time when we fear its destruction, yet still contribute to it.
As in the landscapes I’ve been creating for several years, where, beneath the beauty of the fields, one can sense a history that is not always peaceful, I’m drawn to the surface of water and the unknown hidden in its depths.
One might imagine that the forest and the dried tree reflected in the lake are trying to speak to us or draw us in. Most of the works are created using Conté à Paris on Mylar.
