Isabelle Daval, artiste peintre
"Isabelle Daval, artist-painter, a native of France who has been living in Québec for more than 24 years, trained as a managerial fashion designer; she worked in the fashion industry for more than 15 years.
A self-taught painter, she studied drawing techniques in Montréal with Irina Azalos while practicing live model drawing in the Baz'art art/workshop store.
She started oil painting, discovered and took up the spatula, working with Richard Morin at the Studio Couleurs d'Art school.
She refined her talents in engraving with Manon Lambert, in pastel with Carl Desrosiers, and followed creative workshops, participated in various exhibitions and symposiums, occasionally winning awards and honourable mentions.
In 2012, six of her works were selected and adapted for the collection of greeting cards issued by the Trois Crayons company which were sold at Archambault stores.
Newly set up in Knowlton in the Eastern Townships, she started giving courses in visual art at the Université de Sherbrooke's Bishop campus.
She has opened her Hors-Cadre art gallery in the village of Knowlton, where she has developed an innovative concept by receiving creative artists in residence on a weekly basis during the summer season.
